Amazing ownership claim made by Mercedes over a rival Formula One driver

Esteban Ocon, an Alpine driver, is being “managed” by Mercedes through the team, according to Gwen Lagrue, who oversees the young driver program.

The Frenchman was integral to the plans of the Brackley-based team, having raced for Mercedes in the 2016 DTM season before going on to compete in Formula 1 with Mercedes-sponsored Manor Racing and Force India.

With Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas’ positions seeming unassailable, the now 27-year-old rejoined the world champions as a backup driver after Lance Stroll replaced him at Racing Point.
