For almost the whole 2023–24 season, D’Angelo Russell’s name has been linked to trade rumors. With the NBA Trade Deadline approaching, the Los Angeles Lakers will have to make a difficult decision about the 27-year-old’s future.
This season, the native of Louisville, Kentucky, has seen a lot of time on the bench, but since making his way back into the starting lineup, he has excelled. Throughout his last five games, Russell has averaged 27.2 points.
This comeback has made what once appeared to be a surefire way to trade Russell more difficult.
“The Lakers doubt they’ll be able to find any player to fully complement [LeBron] James and [Anthony] Davis the way Russell’s floor spacing and court presence would in a one-for-one deal.”
