LIV rumours resurface as Hovland misses Phoenix Open

The world No. 4 player Viktor Hovland’s withdrawal from the PGA Tour’s WM Phoenix Open has revived persistent rumors that he would be joining LIV Golf.

Hovland withdrew after tying for 58th position in the limited-field AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, outperforming just 14 competitors.

Last Thursday, he opened with a 69 but struggled to back-to-back 72s before the rain forced the event to be trimmed down to 54 holes.

Hovland was making his first start since he began 2024 with a T22 at The Sentry, the first $20 million ($A30 million) marquee event of the season with a small field as well.

Hovland’s decision to withdraw from the Phoenix competition ignited whispers of a possible switch to the LIV circuit.
