Police confirm sexual assault charges against NHLers in 2018 Hockey Canada incident

Ontario’s LONDON — Five members of Canada’s 2018 world junior hockey team were charged with sexual assault of a woman that year, according to the London, Ontario, police chief, who also expressed regret to the victim for the length of time it took to pursue the case.

According to Chief Thai Truong, sexual assault charges have been brought against Carter Hart of the Philadelphia Flyers, Michael McLeod and Cal Foote of the New Jersey Devils, Dillon Dube of the Calgary Flames, and Alex Formenton, a former NHL player. The investigation was reopened in 2022, according to Detective Sgt.

Katherine Dann of the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section, and it discovered reasonable and probable reasons to file the charges, which may result in jail time if they are found guilty.
