1961: Oscar Robertson, a 22-year-old rookie star for the Cincinnati Royals, becomes the youngest player to win NBA All-Star MVP. At Syracuse, Robertson leads the West with 23 points and 14 assists in a 153-131 victory.

1971 — The Baltimore Ravens defeat the Dallas Cowboys 16–13 in the inaugural Super Bowl following the NFL–AFL merger, thanks to a 32-yard field goal from rookie Jim O’Brien.

1986: Tim Witherspoon captures the WBA heavyweight championship at the Omni in Atlanta via majority decision against Tony Tubbs.

1988 — In the AFC championship game, the Denver Broncos defeated the Cleveland Browns for the second consecutive year. With sixty-five seconds remaining, defensive back Jeremiah Castille intercepts running back Earnest Byner at the Denver 3-yard line.
