Adrian Meronk disclosed that if he had been selected for the Ryder Cup the previous year, he most likely would not have abandoned ship to join LIV Golf.
Three weeks prior to the Ryder Cup in Rome in September, Europe captain Luke Donald announced his six wildcards. The Pole, who is ranked 44th in the world, was the unexpected absence.
Meronk had already triumphed at the Marco Simone course, where Europe welcomed Team USA, five months prior. He had also won at the Australian Open earlier in the season, barely missing out on one of the six automatic spots.
At the time, the 30-year-old expressed his amazement and anger at being left out of the 12-man roster, pointing out that three players had lower ranks.
Meronk made a spectacular comeback.
