BREAKING: Michael Rasmussen’s contract has been extended by the Detroit Red Wings

Michael Rasmussen has signed a new four-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings.
Forward Michael Rasmussen was re-signed by Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman this afternoon to a four-year contract worth a total of $12.8 million. The news was shared on social media. Rasmussen’s new AAV of $3.2 million represents a significant increase over his $1,460,000 base pay.

The value of Michael Rasmussen’s new contract is $12.8 million.

Earlier today, the Red Wings announced the contract extension on their official social media account
Rasmussen has been playing under the terms of his $4,380,000, three-year deal, which was signed prior to the 2021–2022 season. Since former Detroit general manager Ken Holland picked him with the ninth overall choice in the 2017 draft from the WHL’s Tri-City Americans, he has become a mainstay within the club.

Rasmussen has scored 23 points overall in 55 games (11G, 12A) thus far in 2023–24, along with 33 PIM.

In summary, Rasmussen deserves his new contract.

Rasmussen’s achievements have been acknowledged by Yzerman, who has decided to give him an extension that will keep him with the team for the foreseeable future.

Rasmussen’s NHL debut was well before the Red Wings’ 2016 run at a postseason berth, so they will be counting on him to be a key component of their hopes.
