Charlie Woods, 15, will begin pre-qualifying for the Cognizant Classic on the PGA Tour in the Palm Beaches on Monday. Tiger’s son intends to advance to the qualifier and then compete in the tournament proper the following week. Charlie and Tiger have participated in the last four PNC Championship father-and-son events.
Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of Tiger Woods, will try to earn a spot in the PGA Tour’s Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches the following week.
One of four pre-qualifying locations, Lost Lake Golf Club in Florida, is where Charlie will line up on Thursday.
A Monday qualification will see about 25 players and ties advance, and four of them will receive berths in the Cognizant Classic starting on Thursday, February 29.
Along with his father, Charlie has participated in the PNC Championship for the past four years. He also participated in the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship last year.
For the latter event, Tiger caddied for Charlie, the teenager finishing tied for 17th in the boys 14–15 division.
Charlie might play with players like Matt Fitzpatrick, Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, and Rory McIlroy if he qualifies for the Cognizant Classic.
Tiger Woods’ PGA Tour return came to an end last week when the 15-time major winner withdrew from the Genesis Invitational mid-round due to what was later determined to be influenza.
