Tiger Woods has revealed additional information about his condition and broken his silence regarding his withdrawal from the Genesis Invitational golf tournament.
The golf champion was taken off the course during the competition Thursday afternoon due to flu-like symptoms. His withdrawal from the tournament was made public on Friday.
Woods, 48, addressed his departure and provided clarification on his health status in a message that was published on X (previously Twitter) on Saturday. “It is with regret that I must announce my withdrawal from @thegenesisinv,” he said, citing influenza as the cause of his ailment. “I’m getting better and resting.”

On Friday, Woods withdrew from the tournament at the sixth hole, having had back spasms in addition to flu-like symptoms. Then around 1:35 p.m., a rules official drove him off the golf course. local time, according a piece that was published on the PGA Tour website.
