It has been revealed by Birmingham City interim boss Mark Venus that injuries prevented Krystian Bielik and Marc Roberts from playing in the Blues’ 4-3 loss at Southampton.
Although Bielik did not do well at Ipswich Town, the specific nature of his problem was not revealed until recently.
However, Roberts did not make the team at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park to play Russell Martin’s team last weekend despite playing the entire ninety minutes at Portman Road.
“Krystian’s abdominal muscle is torn. Venus stated of Bielik on Saturday, “I don’t know how many weeks he’ll be away, but I imagine it will be weeks, not days. Regarding Roberts, Venus stated, “Marc’s got a tight calf, so I think he’ll be days rather than weeks.”
Up to the international break and Birmingham’s next four games, Bielik is probably going to stay in the treatment room. Roberts might return for Millwall away on March 9, while the Pole might return for the vital away trip to Queens Park Rangers on March 29.
Alfie Chang, who had an injury that ended his season at the beginning of the season, is the only other player in the treatment room. George Hall has returned to full strength to the fight after missing some time due to a hamstring issue. The 19-year-old had a brief appearance off the bench against Southampton.
