Report: Momentum Builds for Browns Trade for Possibly Deshaun Watson Replacement

The Cleveland Browns seem to be gaining traction as a possible trade partner for quarterback Justin Fields of the Chicago Bears.

Fields, the No. 11 pick in 2021, is a player the Bears hope to trade before the NFL Draft in April. Chicago has the top overall selection. Caleb Williams of USC is the most likely contender for that choice.

Ben Solak of The Ringer thinks the Browns might contend for Fields.
“I don’t think the Browns have a good quarterback on the roster (see: all of Deshaun Watson’s film since he returned from suspension),” Solak stated on Monday, March 4. “They would benefit from a low-risk, high-reward swing on the upside of Fields.

If they find a starter in Fields, they can escape out of the back door of what is proving to be a catastrophically bad Watson contract.” Watson has not looked like the Pro Bowl passer he once was with the Houston Texans. He has played in just 12 games since the 2022 blockbuster trade and is coming off sea.
