Breaking news: Vaughn Grissom’s injury outlook for the first game is disappointing for the Red Sox.

The past several days have been filled with nothing but good vibes for the Boston Red Sox. They swept the Tampa Bay Rays in the Santo Domingo Series in the Dominican Republic this past weekend, and they also signed rising standout Brayan Bello to a contract. But when they got back to the States, reality set in.

Throughout the Red Sox’s spring training, injuries have increased. Lucas Gioloto, who was just signed, will be sidelined for the entire season due to a surgical need.

Despite missing time due to calf strain, Tyler O’Neill could play again as soon as Tuesday. Zack Kelly is back to playing catch on the practice fields despite having some tangential issues. Additionally, Tuesday’s live bullpen session is anticipated to be thrown by reliever Kenley Jensen.

Next up is Vaughn Grissom, an infielder who was acquired by the Atlanta Braves in exchange for Chris Sale. Grissom hasn’t played because of a groin/adductor problem that has been bothering him for more than a week. We are getting closer to a better understanding, but there were a lot of unanswered issues around how long something like this might persist.

Red Sox News: Opening Day Is Likely to See Vaughn Grissom Out
The Red Sox think Grissom won’t be out of the lineup for too long, which is fantastic news. Unfortunately, he will most likely miss Opening Day against the Mariners in Seattle.

For a squad that has endured a tough offseason, the hits just keep coming. Even if it’s likely that Grissom won’t be sidelined for a while, you were enthused about him when the Red Sox made the move to get him.

The Red Sox play three games in Oakland against the A’s and three games in Los Angeles against the Angels following their four games in Seattle. On April 9, they will take on the Baltimore Orioles to kick up their Fenway Park schedule. By then, maybe, Grissom will be seen.
