Breaking news: The Saints have a greater chance now for signing…

The New Orleans Saints have had a relatively peaceful free agency; unlike other teams in the league, they did not charge headlong into the market. Only linebacker Willie Gay has been signed by New Orleans thus far. The team has made the remaining movements while adhering to current contracts in order to give the franchise the funds necessary to achieve real progress.

Chase Young, a top free agent, has been linked to New Orleans, though, and supporters are holding out hope that the Saints may sign the gifted edge defender. Young reportedly set up meetings with the Tennessee Titans, Carolina Panthers, and Saints. But no visit is assured in free agency, as we all know.

Free agents frequently have scheduled meetings with several teams; nevertheless, teams are typically left holding the bag if the player decides to sign with the first or second team they see. Generally speaking, a player’s chances of signing with that franchise are pretty small if he leaves the visit unsigned.

For this reason, when word broke on Wednesday night that Chase Young had ended his visitation with the Carolina Panthers, Saints supporters were ecstatic. Happily for New Orleans, Young left his visit as a free agent.

Chase Young saw the Panthers but declined to sign.
Although it is thought that a team should never allow a free agent to leave the building unsigned, it is probable that Young will want to consider all of his choices before making a decision. The player’s likelihood of coming back drops dramatically. For this reason, whenever Chase Young arrives in town, New Orleans needs to seal the deal.

In just four NFL seasons, Young, who is not even 25 years old, has already experienced a great deal. In addition to playing in a Super Bowl, he was traded, suffered a terrible knee injury, and was a Pro Bowl player. He is currently looking for a squad where he can dominate as a free agent. The Saints might be that team, since they are in dire need of defensive line support.
