After Jameis Winston signed with the Browns, it became clear that the team needed another quarterback, and the Saints added one on Thursday. Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports that Nathan Peterman is joining the team for a one-year contract at the league minimum.
After being selected by the Bills in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Peterman has played for the Bears for the last two seasons. Not only did he work with new quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko in Chicago, but he was also Derek Carr’s backup in the Raiders organization from 2018 to 2021.

Jake Haener, the 127th overall selection in the fourth round of the previous year, is still with the Saints. He would undoubtedly be the front-runner to back up Carr this year. Although New Orleans is currently back up to three quarterbacks, they could certainly add more, especially in the draft.
