After spending his entire playing career in the NFL with the Las Vegas Raiders, veteran quarterback Derek Carr signed with the New Orleans Saints after being released by the team that chose him in hopes of being able to resurrect his career in the Big Easy.
Unfortunately, Carr’s first season in New Orleans didn’t turn a lot of heads as it was a mediocre campaign, to say the least, with the Saints missing the NFL playoffs after finishing the 2023 NFL season with a record of 9-8.
Although Carr’s first year with the Saints was forgettable, the team did show some signs of promise with the veteran quarterback under center, and it seems as though he wants to take it to another level next season.
After getting wished a happy birthday by Barstool NOLA with a highlight of an amazing touchdown pass he threw last season, Carr promised more to come during the 2024 campaign.
“Thank you been grinding… More to come for sure we got you. God bless!” Carr said.
However, it remains to be seen how the Saints will do on offense next season, with the team failing to make much of a splash in free agency, especially after parting ways with star wide receiver Michael Thomas.
Carr and company will have their work cut out to put on a show offensively next season, and the pressure will be on with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers keeping their squad relatively intact and the Atlanta Falcons making some big upgrades in the NFC South division.
Only time will tell if Carr can be a success in New Orleans, as his job as the starter could be on the line during the 2024 NFL season.
