I have bad news for anyone who believed that Alabama’s nearly two decades of frightening teams both on and off the field would end with Nick Saban’s retirement three months ago: Kalen DeBoer, the new head coach, won’t be able to stop Alabama from frightening teams.

Since Saban left, the Crimson Tide’s roster has changed frequently, and some key players have left the team. However, DeBoer might be taking the finest player in the nation.
According to an On3 report on BamaonLine.com, “Alabama is the biggest threat to flip quarterback Julian Lewis from USC, the number one recruit in the nation.”
Lewis is supposedly planning a formal visit after making several trips to Tuscaloosa in the spring.

Lewis is a five-star prospect and the fourth-best quarterback in the 2025 class, according to 247sports.com. Lewis may have an easier time selecting the Crimson Tide because he is from Georgia and hence in the SEC.

When Caleb Williams goes first overall to the Chicago Bears in two weeks, it will take a lot of work to convince Lewis to leave USC. This is because he will be playing for head coach Lincoln Riley, who has produced three Heisman champions and three first-overall picks at the quarterback position.
The good news is that Michael Penix Jr., who developed into one of the top quarterbacks in the game, gave Alabama’s head coach, Kalen DeBoer, success at the quarterback position while he was at Washington. Lewis may not attend the Crimson Tide for yet another reason—he hasn’t yet done it at Alabama.
Perhaps Lewis will follow in the footsteps of Bryce Young, a USC quarterback recruit who successfully transferred to Alabama in 2019.
