Veteran wide receiver Tyler Boyd is someone the New Orleans Saints should consider in quiet free agency…

Right now, the New Orleans Saints have a little over $8 million in cap room. That’s not much, but it might be sufficient to bring in another offensive weapon before or after the 2024 NFL Draft.

Given his poor market, the Saints should consider former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd.

Boyd, who stands 6’2 and weighs 205 pounds, is the kind of receiver the Saints need to add to their roster. In general, they are in dire need of bodies, but it would be extremely sensible to add a larger target to Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.

Boyd, who is only 29 years old, meets that requirement.

Although Cedrick Wilson III was signed by the Saints early in free agency, it is still unclear how he will affect the offense. Though he struggled at times when playing for the Miami Dolphins in recent years, he fits the strategy well.

The Saints passing game would be significantly improved if Wilson or Boyd could produce at the WR3 level. Not to add, the Saints presently have just one pick in the second round of the draft. It’s tough to envision them obtaining an instant-impact wideout until the choose one in the first 45 picks.

Boyd played for Cincinnati for eight years, accumulating 6,000 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns on 513 receptions.

He was their WR2 or WR3 behind some of the NFL’s best receivers for a large portion of that time.

Boyd is a player whose market has been quiet overall. The Saints should be tempted to give him a serious look at some point during free agency by his size and athleticism.
