Boston boasts a talented lineup despite having a wild start to the 2024 campaign. The bullpen is one area of the club that still needs improvement. Despite several injuries, Boston’s bullpen currently ranks sixth in the league with an ERA of 3.24.
According to USA Today Sports’ Bob Nightengale, Chicago may decide to trade longtime friend Michael Kopech in exchange for yet another addition that may go a long way.
“The White Sox may have a valuable trade chip on the market this summer with Michael Kopech, who has been lights out since being moved to the bullpen,” Nightengale stated.
The Red Sox chose Kopech in the first round of the 2014 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft. Prior to being moved to Chicago in a deal that included star pitcher Chris Sale, Kopech was considered one of the team’s best prospects.

The youthful flamethrower started his big-league career as a starter and has demonstrated a lot of potential. Prior to the 2024 campaign, he was shifted to the bullpen, where he has excelled in six outings thus far this season, recording a 2.16 ERA and a 12-to-6 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Boston should at least give the White Sox a call to find out the price if they decide to trade the young righty.
