Even though Angel Reese, a rookie with the Chicago Sky, is now well-known around the sports world, two years ago most fans were unaware of her existence.
As a result, not many people are aware of the several obstacles she had to overcome in order to join the WNBA.
Reese’s foot fracture suffered during her time as a player at the University of Maryland is the primary cause of her troubles. She needed to have surgery, have a screw placed in her foot, and recuperate for 12 weeks as a result.
Reese shattered her tibia after she got back, necessitating the implantation of a rod in her leg.
However, Reese’s psychological issues as a result of these wounds were much worse.
“My self-assurance totally evaporated. “Do I still want to play basketball?” I asked myself. In 2023, Reese revealed to former wide receiver Brandon Marshall of the New York Jets and Ashley Nicole Moss on the I Am Athlete podcast.
Reese went on, “Like I had high expectations.” “Everyone anticipates me pulling this off. But I had lost all faith in my ability to succeed. Because I thought I gained my love for the game back and then I lose it again.”
Bravo to Reese for regaining her renowned self-assurance following this difficult time.
