“Heartbreaking News: Alvin Kamara’s Absence from Saints’ Training Camp Looms Amid Contract Dispute…

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler claims that Alvin Kamara desires a revised contract with the New Orleans Saints.

Kamara might be eligible for a different contract after Christian McCaffrey reset the running back market. But there isn’t much of a relationship between the Saints and the former Tennessee standout.

This can result in a holdout during the training camp.

Alvin Kamara, whose contract has two years remaining, wants a revised agreement, according to Fowler on SportsCenter. “The issue is that he is owed $25 million in unguaranteed money in 2025. That is untenable for all parties. Kamara would therefore be amenable to a revised two-year contract with more robust guarantees. The 49ers recently completed a deal with Christian McCaffrey, which may slightly reset Kamara’s options for the running back position.

Thus, there isn’t much movement here between the two sides. They will make an effort to come to an agreement. However, considering he was absent on the final day of minicamp, it’s possible that he won’t show up on the first day of training camp.

In a protest to the squad over his contract disagreement, Kamara skipped practice earlier this month.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport was informed by Alvin Kamara’s agent Brad Cicala that the running back’s absence from practice was due to a contractual issue. He will receive $10.7 million this season from his contract, but there will be a $25 million cap hit in 2025. Kamara is requesting a contract modification because he is aware that the Saints are unlikely to offer him the inflated wage for the 2025 campaign.

With New Orleans, Kamara has amassed 5,829 rushing yards and 54 touchdowns in seven seasons. In addition, he has 23 touchdown catches and 4,219 receiving yards. He was selected by the Saints in 2017 in the third round out of Tennessee. He completed 13 games in 2023 with 180 carries, 694 rushing yards, five touchdowns, and 75 receptions for 466 receiving yards and one more score.

Following practice on Thursday, Klint Kubiak, the offensive coordinator for the Saints, shared his thoughts on the star running back.

Kubiak stated, “I’ve spoken to him, and he’s been great.” Even though he wasn’t there, I spoke with him over the phone. We’ve had continuous communication.

During required minicamps, players all over the league are taking stances in an attempt to grease the wheels on new contracts. Players like Kamara who are under contract but do not show up for camp might face fines of up to $100,000.
