Star of the Indiana Fever Aliyah Boston fielded hundreds of questions from fans during her Fourth of July celebrations. Many of them mentioned her rookie teammate, Caitlin Clark.
A social media user questioned Boston about any additional pressure to perform well in the WNBA given the increased visibility that Clark has brought to the competition.
Because of the play of players like Clark, Angel Reese, and others, women’s basketball has become incredibly popular in the past year.
The year before Clark joined the league, Boston was the first overall choice of the Fever and faced the former Iowa standout in her last game as a college student at South Carolina.
“I don’t believe there is more pressure.” Boston retorted on X, “We are accustomed to playing with eyes on us in college, so it doesn’t change because we are in the W.”
A week after a press conference in Seattle where reporters largely ignored her for the first few minutes and only wanted to question Clark following a Storm loss, Boston is downplaying any additional pressure.
The rookie sensation asked, “Ask Aliyah a question!” because Boston was not paying attention. Boston angrily responded, “No, I’m good!”
Clark reiterated her desire for a member of the press to inquire about Boston, and someone from the gathered press in Seattle agreed to do so.
Many fans were curious about Boston’s cooperation with Clark, wanting to hear any small details about how the two aim to push the Indiana Fever back into the postseason.
With the Chicago Sky and the Atlanta Dream just in front of them, the Fever are now one half of a game off of a postseason spot.
