In Sunday’s 84-71 loss to the Seattle Storm, Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese had her 13th consecutive double-double game, setting a new WNBA record for the most consecutive double-doubles.
Reese, who is currently tied for the WNBA Rookie of the Year award with Indiana Fever standout Caitlin Clark, finished her historic season on Sunday night with 17 points and 14 rebounds. With her impressive performance on Sunday, Reese broke Candace Parker’s record of 12 straight double-double games, which she achieved over many seasons from 2009 to 2010.
Reese and the Sky will try to build on their 8–12 record as the WNBA All-Star and Olympic breaks draw near in the hopes of making a late-season playoff run. Reese will undoubtedly be the focal point if they manage to go to the postseason. As of Sunday’s game against Seattle, her average was 41.0% shooting, 13.9 points, and 11.7 rebounds. Her greatest basketball is still very much ahead of her, and she has swiftly established herself as one of the league’s best post players.
