Nick Saban made headlines earlier this week when he excluded the Alabama Crimson Tide from his SEC Championship prediction. Rather, the prior head coach selected the Texas Longhorns and Georgia Bulldogs to compete for the SEC championship. Kalen DeBoer, the recently appointed coach of Alabama, reacts to Saban’s forecast.
During an interview for The Next Round, DeBoer was directly asked about his feelings about Nick Saban’s prediction of an SEC Championship game between Georgia and Texas. The head coach of Alabama football responded in a humble manner, considering he has only been praising Nick Saban since taking over as head coach. In the end, though, Kalen DeBoer is keeping his team concentrated on the forthcoming campaign.
For the time being, the projections actually don’t matter; we’re just going to concentrate on what we can control. What matters most is what transpires at the conclusion of the season.”
For Kalen DeBoer, this is not his first rodeo. It’s a veteran move, therefore, that he can brush off a query like that and just concentrate on the next season. In DeBoer’s first season as head coach, Alabama will probably be competitive, and making the playoffs is a genuine possibility.
But there could be some hiccups and injuries for the Crimson Tide. in particular as the club becomes used to DeBoer’s strategy early in the season. However, Alabama is well-positioned to have an impact on the SEC this season.

Alabama’s preseason schedule includes exhibition games against South Florida and Western Kentucky. However, they have important games against Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, LSU, Oklahoma, and Auburn, so the schedule isn’t simple. With Kalen DeBoer leading the way, it will be intriguing to watch how the Crimson Tide do against some of the top SEC opponents.
Head coach DeBoer has a lot of experience, which may be why Alabama was drawn to him. Before accepting a position as head coach of Fresno State in 2020, he worked for almost 20 years as an offensive coordinator. The Michigan Wolverines defeated the Washington Huskies despite Kalen DeBoer’s team leading them to a championship run the previous season.
DeBoer is a winner as well. As a head coach, Kalen DeBoer had a remarkable 104-12 record after nine seasons. It includes a strong 12-2 record versus teams ranked in the top 25. Moreover, he led Sioux Falls to three NAIA Championships as head coach from 2005 to 2009. Those figures should give the Alabama football programme cause for optimism regarding the future.
