Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham have long had an interest in Conor Gallagher, a midfield player for Chelsea. In January, Spurs looked into signing the all-action hero, but the deal fell through.
Under Mauricio Pochettino, Gallagher was one of Chelsea’s top performers the previous campaign. The Argentine fervently supported the midfield player who frequently wore the captain’s armband, and he made a valiant attempt to persuade Chelsea to grant Gallagher a new deal.
The 24-year-old’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025, and there is currently no indication that new terms will be negotiated.
Chelsea is therefore willing to take advantage of Gallagher, whose position as a homegrown player would increase the profit margin on a transfer for the team.
Furthermore, Gallagher’s tenure at Stamford Bridge seems to be coming to an end as Enzo Maresca, who signed a quick contract to reunite with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, has taken Pochettino’s place.
