Oliver Skipp’s transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Leicester City is allegedly finalised, and the midfield player will now undergo a medical before possibly moving to the King Power Stadium.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Skipp flew to the East Midlands on Sunday for a medical examination. The two clubs have agreed to a cost of more than £20 million.
By coincidence, the first weekend of Premier League action ends on Monday night with Leicester City hosting Tottenham Hotspur. However, Skipp would not be allowed to play in the match since his registration would have to be completed by Friday at noon with the Premier League.
Spurs now seem satisfied that new signings Archie Grey from Leeds United and Lucas Bergvall from Djurgarden are enough reinforcements for the time being. Previous reports had indicated that Tottenham wanted to bolster their midfield ranks before they would consider a move away for Skipp.
If the deal goes through, Skipp will reunite with Harry Winks, a fellow Spurs academy alum who moved to Leicester last summer and was instrumental in the team’s Championship-winning automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
Additionally, Skipp will be well-known to Steve Cooper, the incoming manager, as Cooper managed him while he was an England youth player. Cooper joined Leicester earlier in the summer following Chelsea’s poaching of Enzo Maresca.

Due to accusations that they violated the profit and sustainability regulations of the game, which carries a point penalty, Leicester may have a difficult time avoiding relegation back to the Championship.
In addition, Patson Daka, a striker for Leicester, suffered an ankle injury during a preseason friendly against Lens last month. Cooper has confirmed that Daka would likely be sidelined for several months.
Tottenham, on the other hand, hopes to improve on their fifth-place result from the previous season, when they came up two points short of a Champions League spot.
Despite only dropping four points in their opening ten games of the previous season, Spurs struggled during the remainder of Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge.
Prior to the start of the current campaign, Postecogolou offered the following reflection: “Obviously, we changed the football and we had some really good moments and some moments where we had to work really hard to get some results. We were probably disappointed with the end of the previous season.”
