Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden sings aloud on stage about fleeing to the hills and escaping for your life. Off-stage, however, he never backs down from a disagreement or offering his viewpoint, even when nobody asks him to. What is the outcome of this? What was anticipated: Dickinson cultivates a long list of haters and becomes the public enemy number one.
Dickinson and Ozzy Osbourne are incompatible despite being members of the wealthiest metal bands in the planet and true music icons. And for those who believe that the Prince of Darkness has a profound dislike for Emily Dickinson, just wait till they see the colourful terminology that his wife, Sharon, used to characterise the lead singer of Iron Maiden. Dickinson also made sure his name wouldn’t be on the Riot Fest guest list anytime soon after calling punk rock “rubbish,” but the Dead Kennedys gave him a polite response that would make him reconsider if he ever checked his Facebook account.
Even though Dickinson isn’t involved in the most intense heavy metal feuds, he manages to cause controversy and make his opponents murmur behind his back that Blaze Bayley was a better front man for Iron Maiden. Now, let’s examine who mentioned Mr. Dickinson and why.

Promoter Jane Holman of Ozzfest reportedly told Billboard in 2024 that “bad blood between [Black] Sabbath and Iron Maiden” existed before Maiden’s tour in 2005. But things became worse when Dickinson attacked Osbourne, the reality show “The Osbournes,” and the tour itself using his platform at Ozzfest.
According to Osbourne’s 2010 interview with The Quietus, he had no idea where the problems originated. He clarified that nobody had informed him of Dickinson’s remarks prior to Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris expressing regret for his front man’s actions. Osbourne continued by saying that he understood Sharon’s frustration with the entire situation and supported her in her resentment of Dickinson. “But what’s interesting? From that Ozzfest, [Maiden were] making a few f****n’ pounds,” Osbourne remarked. “Be a guy and talk to me about whatever’s on your mind. Say it right to my face: “I think you’re a f****n’ a**hole.” Be not a f****n’ fool. It’s so pitifully innocent.”
When Osbourne spoke with Billboard in 2024, he still hadn’t moved past the incident and mentioned how Dickinson always seemed to wish she wasn’t on stage at Ozzfest. “But it’s pretty f*****g stupid if you accept the gig and all you do is complain about it,” he replied.
