Report; Alex and Eddie Van Halen’s Final Song to Be Unveiled in Audiobook Version of Drummer’s Memoir…

The final song that Alex Van Halen, the drummer for Van Halen, co-wrote with his late brother, guitarist Eddie Van Halen, will be featured as an amazing addition on the audiobook version of his upcoming memoir Brothers. While Alex tells his narrative, the previously unheard song “Unfinished” will play.

Brothers has been called a “love letter” to Eddie and is slated for release on October 22nd via HarperCollins (pre-order available here).

“This is my tribute to my brother; my way of saying goodbye,” stated Alex in his own words. Ed, you are missed and loved. I will kick your ass when I see you again!

The 384-page book chronicles the life of Eddie and Alex from their early years to the guitarist’s death in 2020. As Alex puts it, “I was with him right from the start.” We talked about our experiences trying to fit in after moving to this nation. We had a work ethic, a record player, a mom and dad, and an 800-square-foot house. Afterwards, we talked about drinking, being famous, being fathers and uncles, and spending more time in the studio than I have ever done in my life. We even discussed the back of a tour bus. We had a level of understanding in common that most people only aspire to experience once in their lifetime.

Following the death of his brother in October 2020, Alex issued a brief statement saying, “Hey, Ed.” Since then, he has remained reticent. I cherish you. I’ll see you over there. Al, your brother. He hasn’t given any interviews or given any public performances since then.

Sammy Hagar disclosed that he contacted Alex regarding joining him on his current “Best of All Worlds” tour, but the drummer did not respond. Hagar said to Arizona Republic earlier this year, “I guess he just doesn’t like playing without his brother.” “Don’t hold that against him. God be with him.
