INDIA PARK – The Eastern Conference Player of the Week award went to Indiana Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark for the third week in a row, the league announced Monday.
For the weeks of August 15–25 and August 26–September 1, Clark was recognised as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Last week, Clark was also selected the August Eastern Conference Player of the Month and WNBA Rookie of the Month.
Last Wednesday marked the start of the Indiana Fever’s six-game homestand. Clark led Indiana to a 2-1 finish for the week with an average of 25.0 points, 10.0 assists, and 7.7 rebounds per game. With 111 made through this week, Clark broke the franchise record for most 3-point field goals made in a single season. Clark made 13 of them during Indiana’s three games.
In Indiana’s opening victory of the homestand against the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday, Clark achieved a triple-double of 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, making her the sixth player in WNBA history to accomplish so. In the Fever’s victory over the Atlanta Dream on Sunday, Clark earned her 14th double-double of the year with 26 points and 12 assists, setting a franchise record for the most double-doubles in a single season.
Just 53 points separate Clark from matching Seimone Augustus’s record of 744 points for the rookie single-season scoring mark going into the last four games of the regular season. In just 35 games, she tallied her 300th assist—the quickest of any player in league history. In addition to leading all rookies in scoring (19.2 ppg), steals (1.3 spg), and minutes (35.8 mpg) per game, Clark leads the league in assists (8.5 apg).
The Fever will play their final home game of the regular season on Sunday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse against the Dallas Wings after hosting the Las Vegas Aces in back-to-back games on Wednesday and Friday.
