ANAHEIM, California: The Red Sox’s five-game winning streak came to an end in the sixth inning due to a costly error by Rafael Devers. Boston’s Saturday loss to Los Angeles at Angel Stadium was 2-1.
Just three hits were obtained by Boston’s offense. Reid Detmers pitched six shutout innings.

In the sixth, the Angels went ahead. Pablo Reyes, the shortstop, struggled to get the ball from his glove into his hand after Zach Neto grounded out. He flipped to second base too late, forcing a forceout. With two outs, that loaded the bases.
The inning should have ended when Anthony Rendon grounded out to third base at 91.7 mph. However, the ball missed Devers’ glove and went into left field. On Devers’ blunder, two runs were scored.
