After being taken into custody in Alabama early on Sunday morning, a New York Jets player is now being charged with drugs. When the report was made public, Jets supporters were not pleased with the accusation.
According to Trinity Police Department records, Jets CB Tae Hayes, 26, was charged with possession of marijuana, a second-degree misdemeanor, after his early Sunday arrest in Alabama. The arrest was confirmed by a Morgan County jail officer, who declined to provide more details.
He was freed on a $300 bond at 5:07 am after being jailed at 3:46 am. According to a Jets spokeswoman, the team is aware of the circumstances and will not be making any more statements while the legal matter is still active. Hayes appeared in one #Jets game during the previous campaign. He has participated in 14 matches for various teams.
The arrest did not sit well with many supporters. Hayes was taken into custody for possessing a drug that a lot of people believe ought to be allowed. In recent years, marijuana has been legalized in some states.
NFL players have been arrested for allegedly possessing marijuana before, not only Hayes. May saw the arrest of two offensive lineman with the Kansas City Chiefs due to misdemeanor marijuana possession.
