The new head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Kalen DeBoer, was eagerly greeted by supporters at the Tuscaloosa Regional Airport, but what caught their attention more was the unknown man who stepped out of the plane with him.

With the recruitment work he has been doing for the Tide, he is no longer a mystery.

Alabama’s first general manager, Courtney Morgan, has had an immediate influence on the initiative.

Morgan played offensive tackle for the University of Michigan, but he is originally from the inner city of Los Angeles, California. During his two years at Washington (2022–2023), he served as DeBoer’s general manager and director of player personnel, leading the Huskies to a Pac-12 Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in 2023.

While Morgan worked with DeBoer at Fresno State in 2019, his responsibilities at Alabama now include managing the day-to-day operations of the recruiting and personnel departments, planning prospect communications and film evaluations with head coaches, arranging transfer portal assessments, and overseeing internal brand management for the Tide. Despite his many hats, Morgan is dominating Alabama’s 2025 class recruitment efforts. The Tide is ranked second in the country and has 20 verbal commitments.

During an interview with Next Up’s Adam Breneman, DeBoer expressed his confidence in Morgan’s vision.

On Creating Alabama His Way, Jalen Milroe’s X-Factor, and Preserving the Winning Tradition, Kalen DeBoerAt 17:47, DeBoer begins to discuss Courtney Morgan.

Regarding Morgan, DeBoer remarked, “He has his hands in everything, and I let him do that.” “His vision is excellent. He is proud of the work he produces. He executes it correctly. He is a relationship guy, and in the last three to four years, we have developed a solid rapport at several locations, including Fresno State, Washington, and now Alabama. He assists me in maintaining my alignment with a particular vision. He has a keen sense of how things are changing and evolving. He is quite knowledgeable in this field, but above all, he cares about people. He values connections. It’s crucial that he maintains contacts with these prospects’ families.

According to DeBoer, Morgan possesses the inventiveness to identify what draws in 16- to 17-year-old athletes for recruiting.

With this class of 2025, he has that confidence as Alabama has drawn in nine prospects from other regions, including five from California, and eleven names from the south to southeast.

The Crimson Tide are glad to have Morgan on board because he is an exceptional specialist in his field.
