Even though Caitlin Clark broke yet another WNBA record, Jason Whitlock believes that she is still not at her best for the Indiana Fever.
After setting records last week (19 games) with 300 career points, 100 rebounds, and 100 assists, Clark made history on Saturday night by becoming the first-ever WNBA rookie to record a triple-double.
The 22-year-old wonder led the Fever to an 83-78 victory over the league-leading New York Liberty, finishing with 19 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds. Following the game, her teammates showered her with joy.
Whitlock, though, feels Indiana is not handling her well enough in spite of her historic moment.
The conservative sports analyst wrote on X that Clark is “exhausted” after playing 38 to 39 minutes per game and that this is “killing her shooting” on the court.
“Enjoyed the triple double and victory.” Caitlin Clark is fantastic,’ wrote Whitlock. She can’t, however, keep playing for 38–39 minutes per game. It’s killing her shooting, and she’s tired.
She searches for chances to take breaks on both sides of the court. She must play for 35 to 40 minutes.
With an average of 16.1 points per game, Clark’s is the top scoring rookie in the WNBA this season and ranks 16th overall. Angel Reese, a competitor of the Chicago Sky, is next on the list with an average of 14.1.
Whitlock had previously attacked Reese in the midst of her ongoing conflict with Clark, implying that she is not as good as her former collegiate rival and even calling her current record of two straight double-doubles a “made-up” number.
