With the money saved from Kylian Mbappe’s departure, PSG intends to add three big names, and a large portion of the earnings may be used for an unexpected transfer to Manchester United, per sources.
Last week, Mbappe, 25, formally informed PSG of his plan to depart the French powerhouse at the conclusion of the current campaign. The 12-month option is at Mbappe’s request, and his current Paris deal ends in the summer. But come summertime, Mbappe will start a new chapter somewhere else instead of staying on for one more chance to break the club’s Champions League drought.
It’s commonly believed that Mbappe will sign a contract with Real Madrid. That’s even if Mbappe’s current wage at PSG is higher than what Real’s contract offer is.
However, a number of publications, including one from the Times, affirm that PSG would be able to raise a staggering £171 million as a result of Mbappe’s departure.
With Mbappe’s massive salary waived for a further year and his massive loyalty bonus waived in the event that he activates his option, PSG is poised to attack the market.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG plans to sign three players in separate batches. It is planned to acquire players at center-back and central midfield in addition to a straight replacement for Mbappe.
Rafael Leao of AC Milan and Victor Osimhen of Napoli have been discussed as potential Mbappe successors. However, the Times reports that PSG is also keeping an eye on Marcus Rashford of Man Utd.
Unresolved business exists between PSG and Rashford.
PSG manager Luis Campos has Rashford as a personal goal, and it’s thought the England international can return to his explosive best in a new setting in Paris.
After scoring a career-high 30 goals in all competitions the previous season, Rashford has since returned to earth.
The 26-year-old is well behind on five goals, but PSG isn’t letting his inconsistent play stop them.
Rashford would go on to a new contract with Manchester United and is currently paid more than £300,000 per week.

In fact, the French team has had their sights set on Rashford since 2022. Though there is a lot of conjecture that Rashford’s camp used PSG as leverage to help get a rich new contract at Old Trafford, PSG did hold talks to sign Rashford.
