Anthony Kim decides on the LIV Golf offer during a call with Greg Norman.

Although Anthony Kim hasn’t played golf competitively in 12 years, it’s thought that the PGA Tour and LIV Golf have sent offers to him to come back.

After a 12-year break, Anthony Kim is scheduled to play professionally again next week at LIV Golf’s Jeddah event. He accepted a wildcard invitation to play.

Kim has been a recluse from golf since he made his announcement at the start of the last decade as one of the game’s brightest prospects due to a string of injuries. However, he is about to return, and according to Golf Channel, it will happen on the LIV circuit, twelve years after his last competitive event.

With the addition of Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII squad for the upcoming season, the breakaway league has expanded its field to 54 players for 2024, with two temporary wildcard slots available at each of their events.

One will be used by Hudson Swafford for the whole season, and the other will be alternated between other players that made the LIV roster but were not able to land a full-time berth. The Englishman Laurie Canter occupied the vacant position in the first two rounds of 2024, but Kim in Saudi Arabia is expected to take it.

The American’s final professional appearance was at the Wells Fargo Championship in 2012, but it seemed as though Kim had ended his career after having to withdraw from three consecutive events. The former Ryder Cup winner has previously won three PGA Tour events between 2008 and 2010, propelling him into the top-10 in the world rankings.

According to the article, Greg Norman, the CEO of LIV Golf, had a direct phone conversation with Kim about the potential of playing in Jeddah, and it seems the conversation was successful. Dustin Johnson, a LIV star and fellow countryman, may have helped Kim connect the dots with Norman after the league showed little early interest in the former tour star.

Kim competed on the PGA Tour for seven seasons, winning just over £9.6 million ($12.3 million) in prize money. His best FedEx Cup finish came in 2008, when he finished fourth overall. In Jeddah last week, the American will have the opportunity to increase his career earnings with a cool £20 million ($25 million) reward.
